New Member Education

EMIC's upperclassmen design and execute a 10-week curriculum that equips new research analysts with the core analytical and research skills used by professionals studying and investing in emerging markets. New members build a strong foundation in market fundamentals such as GDP growth, inflation, labor markets, trade flows, central banking, FX reserves, and sovereign dynamics, before exploring how key market instruments work in practice. We also emphasize learning how to use global databases, creating high-quality presentations, and applying traditional banking valuation methods and quantitative modeling alongside assessing sovereign risk and international political economy.

By the end of the program, new members choose to either self-publish a paper of their interest for our club-wide yearly research report a research paper, or pitch an investment opportunity relating to emerging markets.
